AIR CONDITIONER FUNCTIONAL UNTIL A TEMPORARY DECREASE IN FAN SPEED BUT RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATING SPEED. AFTER CHANGE, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF BURNING (ELECTRICAL). TURNED A/C OFF & BURNING SMELL DISSIPATED. SWITCHED FRESH AIR FAN ON & NO BURNING SMELL PRESENT. ALL OTHER AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS FUNCTIONED NORMAL. CONTINUED FLT SAFELY WITH A/C OFF & LANDED AT INTENDED DESTINATION. PILOT &CREW SMELLED A BURNING ODOR INSIDE ACFT COMING FROM A/C VENTS. COMPLETED INSP OF WIRES GOING TO ALL A/C SYS, MOTORS & FOUND NO HOT SPOTS OR BROWNING OF WIRES. CHECKED ALL MOTORS, TO SEE HOW HOT THEY WERE. THE FWD EVAP MOTOR WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH, TO THE POINT OF DO NOT TOUCH. TEMP TAKEN AND READ 112 DEG F AT 82 DEG F AMBIENT AIR TEMP.
THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE AUXILIARY SEATING FLOOR OVERLAY PANEL AS PER AMC AAIP C1040 AND DISCOVERED TWO CRACKS ON THE AFT CABIN FLOOR PANEL. THE CRACKS STARTED AT THE LEADING EDGE OF THE FLOOR PANEL AND RADIATED AFT. THE DAMAGE IS AT STA 70" AND RIGHT BL 4.5". THE LT CRACK IS 1.5" IN LENGTH AND RT CRACK IS 1.25" IN LENGTH". THIS AIRCRAFT IS CURRENTLY OOS AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION WHILE THE DAMAGE IS REPAIRED.
AFTER DEPARTURE, THE WHOLE CREW SMELLED A RUBBER & ELEC BURN TYPE SMELL. THE PILOT ISOLATED THE SMELL TO THE AIR CONDITIONER & TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONER SYS & THE SMELL WENT AWAY. WE CONTINUED THE FLIGHT BACK TO THE BASE WITH NO OTHER INCIDENTS & COMPLETED A NORMAL SHUTDOWN & CALLED THE MECHANIC. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER CLUTCH WAS LOCKED DOWN & THE BELT WAS CAUSING THE BURNING SMELL. THE MECHANIC CUT THE BELT OFF. MELED THE AIR CONDITIONER & PLACED THE ACFT BACK IN SERVICE.
FOLLOWING DEPARTURE CREW NOTED STRONG ELEC SMELL IN CABIN. AIR CONDITIONER SWITCHED OFF WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ABORTING TAKEOFF & RETURNING TO BASE. ELEC SMELL DISSIPATED. ACFT SHUTDOWN & CHECKED EXTENSIVELY FOR SOURCE BY PILOT & MECHANIC. NO SOURCE IDENTIFIED. ACFT GND RUN & CHECK FLIGHT PERFORMED SATISFACTORILY. ACFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
CRACK FOUND IN THE TAIL BOOM SKIN WHILE PERFORMING A DYE PENETRANT INSPECTION OF THE AREA DESCRIBED IN SDR QMLA2014061114072. THE CRACK IN THE TAIL BOOM SKIN IS CURRENTLY BEING EVALUATED FOR AN APPROVED REPAIR. THE REPAIR TEAM THEY WILL BE SENDING TO ACCOMPLISH THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER ATTACHMENT FITTING REPLACEMENT WILL ACCOMPLISH THIS REPAIR AT THE SAME TIME. THIS ACFT REMAINS OUT OF SERVICE AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION.
WHILE COMPLYING WITH EAD 2014-12-51, THE RT SIDE HORIZONTAL ATTACHMENT FITTING CRACKED UPON REMOVAL. THIS STABILIZER HAD BEEN DETERMINED TO BE FAIRLY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE & REINSTALL ON PREVIOUS MX EVENTS INVOLVING THIS TASK. MOBILE SUPPORT REPAIR TEAM TO BE ONSITE 06/17/2014 TO REPAIR THIS DISCREPANCY. THIS ACFT REMAINS OUT OF SERVICE AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION.
CRACK IN HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WITH OVERALL LENTH OF 1.49". THIS CRACK IS ON THE UPPER LT SIDE OF THE STABILIZER. IT BEGINS AT A MEASUREMENT OF 10.3125" AFT OF THE LT STABILIZER ATTACHMENT PIN AND CONTINUES AT AN APPROX 45 DEGREE ANGLE OF THE GENERAL ORIENTATION OF THE STABILIZER.
DURING AIRWORTHINESS CHECK, A BOLT WAS DISCOVER UNSECURED ON THE TRANSMISSION DECK JUST FWD OF THE MAIN GEAR BOX DIRECTLY BELOW THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED. VISUAL EXAMINATION DISCOVERED THAT THE BOLT HAD ORIGINATED FROM THE FORWARD GEAR DRIVEN HYD PUMP. WAS SPLIT INTO TWO PIECES AND HAD HAD FALLEN OUT OF THE PUMP. SMALL POCKETS OF RUST WERE FOUND ON THE THREADS OF THE BOLT. THE REMAINDER OF THE BOLT COULD BE SEEN STILL THREADED INTO THE PUMP. THE ACFT WAS GROUNDED AND THE PUMP WAS REPLACED.
