UPON LEVEL OFF AND PRIOR TO FINAL APPROACH THERE WERE TWO CONSECUTIVE UNCOMMANDED RIGHT LATERAL FLIGHT CONTROL INPUTS. CLOSEST PLACE TO LAND WAS BACK AT BASE. NO OTHER EVENTS FOLLOWED. CLEANED CONNECTOR PLUGS ON EHA'S AND TEST FLOWN
UPON CLIMB OUT, BATTERY DISCHARGE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SUBSEQUENT AUDIBLE ALARM, IT WENT OFF AND ON TWICE, OBSERVED VOLTAGE DROP AND SURGE, AS WELL AS CABIN LIGHT DIM AND BRIGHTEN AS WELL AS A HIGH PITCHED ELECTRICAL NOISE HEARD BY ALL 3 CREW MEMBERS. RETURNED TO AIRPORT WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.
WENT TO TURN ON FRESH AIR FAN FOR SOME AIR, SMELLED A METAL SMELL, TURNED OFF FAN SMELL WENT AWAY. AIRCRAFT IS A TWIN SECOND ENGINE IS A PRATT WHITNEY 206B2 BJ-1037 5106+41
DURING FORWARD FLIGHT, CREW EXPERIENCED RAPID AND ABRUPT VERTICAL UP/DOWN SHIFT. WINDS WERE CALM. PIC SLOWED AIRSPEED TO APPROXIMATELY 70-80 KNOTS AND EXPERIENCED A SECOND OCCURRENCE. CREW DECIDED TO CONDUCT A PRECAUTIONARY LINING AT KRDU APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES TO OUR TWELVE O'CLOCK. THE NEXT OCCURRENCE WAS EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED AND THE PIC DECIDED TO LAND AT THE NEAREST SUITABLE LANDING AREA. AT APPROXIMATELY 80FT AGL ON SHORT FINAL TO THE UNIMPROVED LZ, ANOTHER ABRUPT VERTICAL SHAKE WAS FELT BY THE CREW AND IN THE FLIGHT CONTROLS. PIC LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT IN A HOUSING SUBDIVISION.
RECEIVED A MGB CHIP LIGHT. ACFT WAS SHUTDOWN AND THE CHIP DETECTOR WAS CHECKED. A LARGE CHIP WAS FOUND, REFERING TO ASB 135-63-012 THE CHIP WAS CLASSIFIED AS " STAGE C". THE NR 2 INPUT GEAR WAS REMOVED AT THIS TIME AND PITTING WAS NOTED ON THE GEAR. THIS MX EVENT IS STILL IN WORK AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION AS WE ARE CURRENTLY AWAITING A REPLACEMENT MGB TO ARRIVE TO INSTALL AND RETURN THIS ACFT TO SERVICE.
DURING FLT, TRANSMISSION CHIP LIGHT CAME ON. POWER WAS IMMEDATELY REDUCED, EMERGENCY LANDING WAS MADE. DISCOVERED A LARGE CHUNCK OF METAL ON THE CHIP DETECTOR. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS FLUSHED AND FILLED, FILTER REPLACED, AND A FIFTEEN MINUTE PENALTY RUN ACCOMPLISHED WITH NO ADDITIONAL CHIP LIGHTS OR DEBRIS COLLECTED IN EITHER THE FILTER OR CHIP DETECTOR. OPEN
