CREWMEMBER REPORTED FUEL ODOR IN CABIN.MECHANIC INSPECTED AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE AND ENGINES FOR FUEL LEAKS. PERFORMED GROUND RUN AND WATCHED FOR ANY LEAKS. NO EVIDENCE OF FUEL LEAKS OR FUEL SMELL FOUND. AIRCRAFT RETURNED RO SERVICE AND THERE ARE NO COMPONENTS CAUSING DIFFUCULTY OR DAMAGED.
DURING RETURN FLIGHT FROM BAYSTATE HOSPITAL BACK TO BASE, WHILE OVER BRADLEY AIRPORT (KBDL) THE RIGHT-SIDE MAIN ROTOR TRANSMISSION PRESSURE INDICATION DROPPED TO 0. LANDING WAS PERFORMED AT KBDL MANAGEMENT, OCC, AND MAINT. WHERE THEN NOTIFIED.
WHILE ENROUTE, AIRCRAFT HAD A VARNR LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND EXPERIENCED AN APPROXIMATE 30% ENGINE SPLIT WITH NR 2 ENGINE GOING LOW. AIRCRAFT VARTOMâS SYSTEM WENT INTO MANUAL MODE. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO BEEP UP THE NR 2 ENGINE WITH COLLECTIVE TRIM SWITCH WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. COLLECTIVE TRIM SWITCH WOULD ONLY INCREASE THE NR 1 ENGINE, WHICH WAS ONLY DONE MOMENTARILY TO CHECK IF SWITCH WAS WORKING. THE NR 2 ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO COLLECTIVE TRIM SWITCH. ELECTED TO DO A RUN ON LANDING AS A PRECAUTION IN ORDER TO NOT EXCEED ANY LIMITATIONS ON THE NR 1 ENGINE. NO DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT AND NO LIMITATIONS EXCEEDED.
DURING TAKEOFF, THE CREW NOTICED A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN CABIN. FOUND THE COMMON DRAIN LINE ON THE NR 2 ENG DECK TO BE CLOGGED. THIS ALLOWED AN ACCUMULATION OF FUEL AFTER MULTIPLE STARTS, WHICH RESULTED IN THE FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN. CLEANED DRAIN WITH AIR GND RUN. ACFT OPERATIONS CHECKED OK.
THE TAIL ROTOR ACTUATOR WAS FOUND SEEPING. THIS ACTUATOR WAS IN SERVICE FOR 146 HOURS, ABOUT THE AVERAGE TIME FOR REPLACEMENT EXPERIENCED AT THIS FACILITY WITH THIS ACFT. THE LEAKAGE RATE EXCEEDS THE LIMITS SPECIFIED IN THE MBB BK117C-2 AMM IAW CH 67-34-00, 6-1 F 3 C & F LEAKAGE RATES & CH 29-00-00, 5-1 TABLE 1.
