DURING LINE MAINTENANCE, THE FORWARD LEFT EPSU 10 WL FAILED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS TEST. REPLACED THE BATTERY PACK AND OPERATIONAL CHECK OK.
DURING DESCENT AT 33,000 FEET, NR 2 ENGINE OVERSPEED OCCURRED. AUTO THROTTLE WAS DISENGAGED, POWER LEVER WAS PULLED BACK, AND ENGINE RPM CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. ENGINE WAS MANUALLY SHUTDOWN. AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO PHL AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE BORESCOPE AND ENGINE OVERSPEED INSPECTION REVEALED NO DISCREPANCIES. REPLACED THE NR 2 ENGINE CONTROL UNIT, OPERATIONAL CHECK OK.
DURING 'C' CHECK, THE LEFT FUSELAGE BELLY FAIRING CONNECTING ANGLE FOR PANEL 193B AND THE LEFT OVERWING SLIDE PACK WAS FOUND CRACKED. THE CRACK EMANATES FROM THE FORWARD MOST EDGE TO THE SECOND FASTENER HOLE APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES AFT OF THE FORWARD EDGE. REPAIRED PER NWA EA 32-97835.
