IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE EXTERNAL EMERGENCY LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. FOUND THAT THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF FIRST CLASS CABIN HAD FOUR EMERGENCY BATTERY PACKS MISSING. REPLACED BATTERY PACKS FOR THE LEFT SIDE OF FIRST CLASS CABIN. OPS CHECKED NORMAL.

ON TAKEOFF ROLL AIRCRAFT CABIN SMELL OF AIR CONDITIONING WATER SEPARATOR ODOR. RECIRCULATION FANS WERE TURNED OFF TO ACCOMPLISH ODOR REMOVAL. ODOR DISSIPATED AFTER 5 MINUTES. TURNED RECIRCULATION FANS BACK ON AND HAD A DIFFERENT ODOR. ON DESCENT BOTH ODORS RETURNED AND WERE STRONGER. RETURNED TO MIA AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE REPORTED OIL SMELL IN FIRST CLASS CABIN. FOUND OIL ON HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR. REPLACED NUMBER ONE BEARING CAP O-RING. FERRIED TO JFK FOR NUMBER ONE ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

REMOVED FASTENERS AND BLENDED CORROSION AWAY USING A MINIMUM 0.5 INCH BLEND RADIUS WITH AT 20:1 TAPER RATIO. PERFORMED VISUAL 10X MAGNIFICATION INSPECTION TO ENSURE CORROSION WAS REMOVED. PERFORMED HIGH FREQUENCY EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION OF THE BLENDED AREA AND PERFORMED A BOLT HOLE HIGH FREQUENCY EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION OF FASTENERS WITHIN THE REWORK AREA FOR CRACKS. ENSURED THE REPAIR AREA MEASURED 2.5 INCHES MAXIMUM DIAMETER AND A MINIMUM REMAINING THICKNESS OF 0.170 INCH. APPLIED 2 COATS OF PRIMER TO THE REWORK AREA AND INSTALL

AREA IS .375 BY .375 AT THE RIGHT HAND FUSELAGE AFT AT STATION 1809. THE HOLE HAD BEEN REAMED TO 0.375 TO REMOVE CRACK INDICATION. OVERSIZED THE HOLE IN THE FUSELAGE OUTER SKIN TO 0.375 INCHES. VERIFIED CRACK WAS COMPLETELY REMOVED. INSTALLED A COUNTERSINK FREEZE PLUG IN SKIN. REINSTALLED EXTERNAL WEAR DOUBLER.
