ON OUR LAST LEG HEADED BACK TO BASE AFTER DOING A BACK TO BACK FLIGHT. THE MEDIC AND I LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND WE SIMULTANEOUSLY SAID TO EACH OTHER DOES IT SMELL LIKE FUEL? THE SMELL LEFT THE CABIN AS FAST AS IT CAME IN. WE LANDED WITH NO ISSUES AND COULD FAINTLY SMELL FUEL. I THEN CALLED THE MECHANIC AND INFORMED THEM OF THE SMELL. INSPECTED FUEL CELL VENTS REFERENCING AUGUSTA A109E MM FIGURE 06-5. FOUND LEFT AND RIGHT VENTS OBSTRUCTED. CLEARED OF DEBRIS.
LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED DURING CRUISE FLIGHT. AIRCRAFT WAS SLOWED DOWN TO 25 KTS IN ORDER FOR CREW MEMBER TO ATTEMPT TO CLOSE IT. HE WAS UNABLE TO SLIDE IT CLOSED, AND CONTINUED TO HOLD THE DOOR UNTIL A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING COULD BE MADE. ONCE LANDED AND VIEWED FROM OUTSIDE, THE FORCE OF THE DOOR OPENING IN FLIGHT CAUSED IT TO COME OF THE TRACK. MECHANIC WAS NOTIFIED AND RESPONDED TO THE AIRCRAFT LOCATION. MEHANIC PERFORMED INSPECTION OF DOOR AND REINSTALLED IT ON TRACK PER AMM. VERIFIED DOOR OPENED, CLOSED, LATCHED AND CAUTION LIGHT OPERATED CORRECTLY. NO DEFECTS WERE NOTED. COULD NOT DUPLICATE FAULT.
UPON EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION FOUND A CRACK IN THE COUNTER TORQUE CROSSBEAM FITTING PLATE. INSPECTION WAS ACCOMPLISHED DUE TO AIR METHODS EO, 06-5300-EO-2416.
