Maintenance disclosures
DURING DECELERATION ON APPROACH TO HOME BASE, BOTH AIR-CONDITIONING BLOWERS CEASED OPERATING. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, ALL OCCUPANTS DETECTED A BURNING PLASTIC ODOR IN THE AIRCRAFT. DEACTIVATED AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MEL'D 2100-01. REPLACED FORWARD RT EVAPORATOR BLOWER MOTOR.
ON TAKEOFF AND LANDING, STRONG FUEL/EXHAUST SMELL IN REAR CABIN.
SMOKE AND FUMES IN CABIN/COCKPIT FROM SUSPECTED AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER ISSUE
IN FLIGHT, WHILE ON APPROACH TO BASE HELIPAD BOTH FRONT AND BACK AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTORS STOPPED WORKING. MED CREW NOTICED A "FUNNY SMELL". CONTINUED TO LAND AND LAND AND PERFORMED NORMAL SHUT DOWN AT HOME BASE WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. MECHANICS PERFORMED TROUBLESHOOTING OF AC SYSTEM. AFT EVAPORATOR BLOWER MOTOR FAILED CONTRIBUTING TO THE "FUNNY SMELL" AND TRIPPING THE EVAPORATOR BLOWER MOTOR CIRCUIT BREAKER CAUSING ALL BLOWER MOTORS TO CEASE OPERATION IN FLIGHT.
FUEL SMELL WAS REPORTED BY THE NURSE AND PARAMEDIC DURING CRUISE FLIGHT. THE NURSE STATED THAT THE SMELL IS STRONGER THEN HE'S SMELLED IN THE PAST. WE TURNED OFF THE AIR-CONDITIONER AND OPENED THE WINDOWS TO VENT THE A/C AND LANDED AT OUR BASE. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE AIRCRAFT I INSPECTED THE CREW COMPARTMENT AND COULD SMELL FUEL. AN EXTERIOR INSPECTION SHOWED NO SIGNS OF FUEL LEAK. THE MECHANIC WAS CALLED TO INSPECT THE AIRCRAFT AND INSPECTED THE VENT SYSTEM ABOVE THE MAIN FUEL TANK WITH NO DEFECTS, FUMES, OR ODORS DETECTED. A MAINTENANCE CHECK FLIGHT COMMENCED TO CONFIRM THE SMELL/ODOR IN FLIGHT TO WHICH NONE WERE DETECTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED BACK TO SERVICE AT THAT TIME.
