NOSE GEAR FAILS TO RETRACT AFTER TAKEOFF. MECHANIC JACKED AIRCRAFT AND PERFORMED 25 GEAR SWINGS. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ALL COCKPIT INDICATION INDICATE NORMAL. HELD NOSE GEAR WHILE SELECTING GEAR UP TO CHECK GEAR ACTUATOR FOR POSSIBLE HYDRAULIC BYPASS, TECH UNABLE TO HOLD GEAR NO HYDRAULIC BYPASS INDICATION NOTED. DISCONNECTED NOSE GEAR DOORS PERFORMED GEAR SWINGS MONITORED NOSE GEAR UP LOCK MECHANISM NO ABNORMALITIES NOTED . REGULATED HYD MULE PRESSURES TO AS LOW AS 2200 PSI STILL NO DEFECTS NOTED. FSR RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF NOSE GEAR UPLOCK.

DURING 5,000 HOUR INSPECTION, THE RUDDER WAS REMOVED FOR S/B (REPAIR OF RUDDER TORQUE TUBE ASSY BONDING JUMPERS) FOUND CORROSION ON TORQUE TUBE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL. ON FURTHER INVESTIGATION (EDDY CURRENT INSP) A CRACK INDICATION WAS NOTED .020 INCH DEEP BY 1 INCH LONG. TORQUE TUBE WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. PROBABLE CAUSE: MOISTURE INGRESSION THROUGH WIRE BUNDLE HOLE. ENGINEERING EVALUATE FOR POSSIBLE INTERNAL INSPECTION CRITERIA OF TORQUE TUBE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SEALING AS REQUIRED. (K)

CREW REPORTED ON APPROACH, THE RT ENGINE FIRE WARNING CAME ON. THE FIRE ICON AND TRIPLE CHIME WENT OFF. CREW RETARDED THE RT THROTTLE TO IDLE AND THE FIRE WARNING WENT OUT AND THE AMBER ICAS MESSAGE OF (R ENG FIRE FAIL) CAME UP. DURING LANDING ROLL OUT, THE FIRE WARNING TRIPPED OFF AGAIN. CREW SHUTDOWN THE RT ENGINE AND THE MESSAGE WENT BACK TO THE AMBER ICAS. MAINTENANCE HAS FOUND THE WIRE BUNDLE AT P-133 CHAFED. APPROX 5 WIRES THAT THEY CAN TELL AT THIS POINT ARE CHAFED BADLY. WIRE NR'S RBA 0135B, RBA 0486C, RBA 2111, RBA 0295C, RBA 0061B.
