CURRENT BATTERY VDC: 26.64 VISUALLY INSPECTED AIRCRAFT EXTERIOR FOR LIGHTNING STRIKE. NO DEFECTS NOTED. INSPECTED BATTERY, BATTERY HARNESS, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, GENERATOR AND MASTER ELECTRICAL BOX. NO DEFECTS NOTED. THIS AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN RETURNED TO REVENUE SERVICE, REF #58142

CORROSION DAMAGE DISCOVERED TO THE L/H CABIN FLOOR EDGING P/N: 350A21-1359-20.
CORROSION DAMAGE ON LT AND RT FLOOR EDGING THAT WILL REQUIRE REPAIRS.
DAMAGE LT AFT LOWER LEG LOCATED AT STA 3650, WL 2305, AND BL 430L THE DAMAGE IS 0.022 DEEP, 0.5 X 0.3.
CHAFING FOUND DURING VISUAL INSPECTION CREATED BY ANTENNA WIRE BUNDLE RUBBING AGAINST THE SKIN OF THE TAIL BOOM FORWARD OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER INSTALLATION.
DURING STRAIGHT & LEVEL FLIGHT, THE FLIGHT CREW HAD BOTH THE CABIN REAR NVG LIGHTS ON FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF THE 40 MINUTE FLIGHT. AT 30 MINUTES THEY NOTICED SPARKS & A SMALL PUFF OF SMOKE COME OUT OF THE LIGHT SOCKET AREA. NOTICED SMOKE RESIDUE AROUND THE LIGHT SOCKETS PLASTIC SHROUD ENCASING. REMOVED UNIT & LOOKED INSIDE & SMALL TRACES OF SMOKE RESIDUE ON BACK OF LIGHT FIXTURE AREAS. COULD NOT FIND ANY INDICATION OF BURNING, PITTING OR ARCING OF THE WIRING OR FIXTURES. THE LIGHTS WERE OPERATIVE & DID NOT SMOKE WHEN I ARRIVED TO BEGIN MY INSPECTION.
DURING THE RETURN FLIGHT FROM UMC, THE PILOT SWITCHED ON THE CABIN VENT BLOWER. THE MEDICAL CREW IMMEDIATELY SMELLED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS. THE PILOT TURNED THE VENT BLOWER OFF & THE SMELL DISSIPATED. THE PILOT PERFORMED A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT A NEARBY AIRPORT. AFTER THOROUGH INSPECTION NO DISCREPANCIES WERE NOTED. THE ACFT WAS GND RAN & VENT BLOWER OPERATED WITH NO DEFECTS. ALL CB`S WERE CHECKED, REMOVED PANELS NECESSARY TO INSPECT AVIONICS WIRING WITH NO DEFECTS FOUND. THE ACFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE & FLOWN AROUND THE AIRPORT FOR 20 MINUTES WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED.
TWELVE MINUTES INTO A FIFTEEN MINUTE FLIGHT, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE DETECTED A FAINT "HOT WIRING" ODOR COMING FROM THE FORWARD PORTION OF THE COCKPIT, NO AMP OR VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS WERE NOTED DURING THAT TIME. VISUALY INSPECTED THE WIRING FOR THE AVIONICS, MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, AND AIRFRAME WIRING WITH ALL BELLY PANNELS REMOVED, GLAIR SHIELD REMOVED, AND ACCESS PANNELS REMOVED. THE WIRING IN THE AFT JUNCTION BOX AND BAGGAGE AREA WAS ALSO INSPECTED. NO DEFECTS OR DISCREPANCIES WERE NOTED, NO CHAFING WIRES WERE FOUND AND NO BURNED WIRING WAS FOUND. A FIFTEEN MINUTE GROUND RUN WAS PERFORMED WITH ALL ELECRTICAL AND AVIONICS SYSTEMS OPPERATING, NO ODORS WERE NOTED, AND NO ABNORMANITIES WERE NOTED. THE ACFT WAS FLOWN ON A CHECK FLIGHT FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES, WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE ACFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO SERVICE.
AFTER LANDING, THE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED BRIEFLY THEN EXTINGUISHED. CHECKED CONTINUITY OF FIRE DETECTORS REF AMM 26-11-00, 6-2, CHECKED WIRING REF WDM 26-11, CHECKED AND APPLIED STABILANT 22 TO PLUG 22 DELTA, CHECKED 38W HOLD STRIP, CHECKED 40W RELAY AND APPLIED STABILANT 22 TO CONNECTORS, COULD NOT DUPLICATE, NO DEFECTS NOTED.
DURING 100 HOUR INSPECTION, FOUND A TOTAL OF 6 CRACKS, CHAFING ON THE LT AND RT AFT BATTERY TRAYS. APPLIED FOR, RECEIVED AND PERFORMED A REPAIR, ISSUED WITH AN 8110-3.
