WE HAVE FOUND A SCISSOR LINK, H-BLOCK, DURING ALF INSPECTION TO HAVE DISBONDED BUSHINGS. THIS IS A LOW HOUR SCISSOR LINK, AND THERE MAY BE A ISSUE WITH THE REPAIRS BEING PERFORMED ON THESE LINKS. POSSIBLE CAUSE IS THE BUSHING SPECIFICATIONS DO NOT MEET THE STANDARD OF THE ACTUAL LINK IT IS BEING PRESSED INTO AS FAR AS IT DIMENSIONS. OR THE ADHESIVE OR BONDING AGENT DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARD OF ADHERING THE BUSHING TO THE BLOCK. THE LAST O/H ON THIS BLOCK WAS PERFORMED. THE O/H WAS IAW. R & R 4 BUSHINGS.

TAIL ROTOR BLADE MAKING A POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE SPAR WHEN FLEXED. FOUND BLADE SPAR CRACKED IN TWO PLACES, ONE APPORXIMATELY 48 MM OTBD FROM CENTER OF SPAR , 20 MM LONG FROM L/E TO CENTER OF SPAR ON TARGET BLADE AND ONE APPROX 51 MM LONG FROM L/E TO CENTER SPAR ON TARGET BLADE AND 1 APPROXIMATELY 51 MM OTBD FROM CENTER OF SPAR, 32 MM LONG FROM L/E TO CENTER OF SPAR, 32 MM LONG FROM L/E TO CENTER OF SPAR ON OPPOSITE BLADE. COULD BE CAUSED TO AGE OF BLADE. REPLACED THE ROTOR BLADE

THEY BOTH HAVE 14.1 HOURS OF USE SINCE OVERHAUL. THE REPORTED MOTOR ASSEMBLY HAD ABNORMAL BRUSH WEAR. RETURNED MOTOR ASSEMBLY TO THE VENDOR FOR WARRANTY.

Part: SHAFT — CHAFED (T/R DRIVE)

DURING AN ANNUAL INSPECTION, A RUB SPOT WAS FOUND ON THE SHORT SHAFT JUST AFT OF THE ENGINE. THIS IS A HARD AREA TO INSPECT WITH BOTH PIECES OF DRIVE SHAFT COVER IN PLACE. A CLOSE LOOK AT THIS AREA AT ANNUAL SHOULD BE DONE AS IT IS HARD TO SEE. THE REAR ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CHANGED AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED.

NEW GASKET FROM MFG DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY. SUBMITTER STATED THESE PARTS WHEN RECEIVED FROM A.E.C. ARE TOO SMALL IN DIAMETER TO CORRECTLY FIT. AMER EUROCOPTER SAYS TO SOAK THE GASKET OR TO TEAR THE OUTSIDE PART OF THE BOLT HOLES TO MAKE IT FIT. AFTER TRYING TO GET THE GASKET TO SWELL BY SOAKING, THE GASKET STILL TORE. AMER EUROCOPTER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT AS OF LAST PHONE CALL HAS NOT DEVELOPED CORRECTION TO THE PROBLEM OF BAD FITTING GASKETS.

UPON REMOVAL OF RED AND YELLOW STAR-FLEX ASSEMBLY, ONE BUSHING WAS FOUND UNSCREWED FROM THE UPPER ARM. THE CAUSE MAY BE EITHER A POOR BOND OF BUSHING TO STAR-FLEX ARM OR A POOR CLEANING OF BOLT PRIOR TO USE OF NEW MASTONOX AT LAST BEARING CHANGE. SUBMITTER STATED TO ALWAYS CLEAN AND INSPECT PARTS PRIOR TO RE-USE.
