PERFORMED VISUAL INSPECTION AT WING REAR UPPER CHORD KICK FITTING STA 1241 LBL 128 SHIM MIGRATION AT FWD LOWER SIDE IS 0.421 INCH AND SHIM AT LOWER SIDE IS 0.424 INCH, FOUND WITHIN LIMITS. C/W ERA 554259-14. MIGRATING SHIMS ARE WITHIN ERA LIMITS.
REPORTED STRONG ODOR OF SMOKE FROM UPPER DECK NUMBER ONE OVEN. THE OVEN CARRIER WAS REMOVED AND A HAND TOWEL WAS FOUND INSIDE AND VERIFIED TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE ODOR. THE OVEN AND CONTROLLER WERE REPLACED.

DURING A MAINTENANCE VISIT, THE EMERGENCY ESCAPE PATH LIGHT AT SEATS 1, 2 AND 3 ON RIGHT SIDE WERE FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE CONNECTOR OFF AT SEAT 3 AND RE-SECURED IT. SYSTEM OPERATION WAS NORMAL AFTER THE CONNECTOR WAS RE-SECURED.
FLIGHT 172 NRT-JFK RETURNED TO NRT WITH THE NR 1 ENGINE SHUTDOWN BY THE CREW DUE TO A FIRE WARNING. MAINTENANCE FOUND A BROKEN DETECTOR ELEMENT. THE ELEMENT AND TWO DETECTOR CARDS WERE REPLACED. RAN NR 1 ENGINE AND THE ENGINE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM TESTED NORMAL.
DURING A MAINTENANCE VISIT, THE EMERGENCY EXIT PATH LIGHT AT ROWS 10-12 LEFT SIDE WERE FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE. MAINTENANCE CONNECTED THE WIRES TO SOCKETS AT DOOR 1 LAVATORY 2, ROW 10 LEFT AND ROW 12 LEFT. SYSTEM OPERATION WAS NORMAL AFTER THE WIRES WERE RECONNECTED.
DURING A MAINTENANCE VISIT, THE EMERGENCY EXIT PATH LIGHTS AT ROWS 51, 66C, DOORS 4L, 3L, AND 3R WERE FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE. MAINTENANCE CONNECTED THE WIRES TO THE SOCKETS AT ROW 51, DOORS 4L, 3L, AND R AND THE SYSTEM OPERATION WAS NORMAL.

Established monitor inspection and will accomplish Section II at or prior to 21,009 cycles. Section III of EA 63-187966 will be accomplished at or prior to 3000 cycles after accomplishment of Section II.

DURING TAXI OUT, SMOKE BEGAN TO ENTER THE CABIN. AIRCRAFT TAXIED BACK TO THE GATE AND PASSENGERS DEPLANED THROUGH THE JETWAY. MAINTENANCE FOUND OIL LEAKAGE AT NR 3 BEARING COMPARTMENT ON NR 2 ENGINE. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE NR 2 ENGINE.
