ATA 2120

CREW SMELLED LIGHT SMOKE ODOR IN THE AFT CABIN AREA. AT THAT POINT THE PILOT TURNED AROUND AND LANDED BACK AT DEPARTURE BASE. CALLED THE ON-CALL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED CABIN AREAS. NO VISUAL SIGNS OF DEFECTS NOTED. INSPECTED THE AFT ACCS AIR CONDITIONING AREA. NO SIGNS OF VCCS MOTOR OR OTHER COMPONENTS SHOWING ANY ABNORMAL WEAR OR DEFECTS. RUN UP AIRCRAFT AND LOAD UP SYSTEMS INCLUDING VCCS SYSTEM. MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONED CORRECTLY WITH NO DEFECTS OBSERVED. COULD NOT FILL OUT DEFECTIVE PART INFORMATION DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ODOR.

ATA 3244

ON APPROACH, JUST AFTER TOUCH DOWN THE RT MAIN TIRE BLEW. THE ACFT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT DAMAGE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE TIRE, IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE WAS A FLAT SPOT ON THAT TIRE AND HAD SEPARATED AT THE CENTER OF THAT FLAT SPOT. THE LT TIRE WAS NOT FLAT SPOTTED AND WAS IN GOOD SERVICEABLE CONDITION. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE RT MLG ASSY, AXLE, AND BEARINGS; THE WHEEL WAS SWAPPED OUT FOR A SERVICABLE WHEEL THAT HAD BEEN NDT INSPECTED, AND NEW TIRE. NOTE: BEARINGS WERE CLEANED, INSPECTED, AND PACKED WITH FRESH GREASE PRIOR TO REASSEMBLY. AFTER COMPLETION OF THIS PROCESS A SECONDARY MX CHECK WAS COMPLIED WITH AND ACFT WAS RTS.

ATA 7110

DURING CRUISE FLIGHT THE PILOT OBSERVED THAT THE FOWARD UPPER ENGINE COWLING WAS LOOSE. AFTER DIVERSION TO ELP AND SHUT DOWN, PILOT INSPECTED COWLING AND FOUND THE TWO RIGHT HAND SIDE LATCHES WERE DISENGAGED. A LOCAL TECHNICIAN WAS CALLED TO INSPECT COWLING STRUCTURES AND LATCHING MECHANISMS. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FOWARD LATCH WAS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, WITH NO OTHER ISSUES. THE TECHNICIAN ADJUSTED THE LATCH MECHANISM ONE FULL TURN, AND RETURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO SERVICE.
