DURING CURRENT HMV, A DENT WAS FOUND NEAR STRINGER 14L AT FS 1614, ALSO IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE BUTT JOINT. THE SUBJECT DENT WAS CUT OUT, AND A BOEING APPROVED REPAIR INSTALLED PER 472303-14.

DURING CHECK-C MAINT FOUND STATION 650 STRINGER 17L, 4 FOOT FWD OF THE LEFT SIDE NUMBER 2 CABIN DOOR, WITH 2 EACH SMOOTH DENTS. THE FWD DENT WAS .75 IN BY .75 IN BY .1875 IN DEEP. AFT DENT WAS 1 IN BY 1 IN BY .0625 IN DEEP. CUT OUT DAMAGED SKIN AND INSTALLED DOUBLER PER SRM 53-00-01.
SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE VIDEO MONITOR AT SEAT ROW 23, RT SIDE. CREW PULLED CIRCUIT BREAKER AND SHUT OFF THE VIDEO. MAINTENANCE PULLED ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS, REMOVED THE CONNECTOR, AND DEFERRED CORRECTIONS PER MEL. THE VIDEO MONITOR WAS LATER REPLACED. CHECK-C 2-20-00 LAX.
THE LEFT AUTOPILOT SELF-ENGAGED DURING TAKEOFF. ABORTED TAKEOFF AND RETURNED TO THE GATE. THE LEFT AUTOPILOT WAS DEACTIVATED AND DEFERRED PER MEL. CHECK-C 2-20-00 LAX. ---OPEN--- S/D. THE AUTOFLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM MODE CONTROL PANEL (MCP) WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER TESTING SHOWED THE MCP A SIDE PROCESSOR WAS NOT PROPERLY RETURNING FROM A PROCEDURE CALL, AND SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WITH THE INTERFACE TO THE RAM MEMORY DEVICES. THESE MCP FAILURES CAN CAUSE THESE UNCOMMANDED AUTOPILOT ANOMALIES TO OCCUR. THIS IS A CORRECTION.
