AFTYER DRAINING SYSTEM AND ISPECTING FLUID FROM FILTER HOUSING, GEARBOX AND FILTER ELEMENT THE AMOUNT AND SIZE IF CHIPS FAR EXCEEDED THE LIMITS SPECIFIED IN LEONARDO HELICOPTERS INSPECTION CRITERIA CHAPTER 64-00-11. AC WAS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AND AWAITING DISPOSITION FROM MANAGEMENT.

ARRIVED AT SCENE WITH NO INCIDENT, SHUTDOWN, LOADED PATIENT AND DEPARTED, EN-ROUTE FOR DESTINATION, EXPERIENCED A FULL SAS FAILURE WITH BOTH SAS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND OSCILLATIONS OCCURRING. ONCE THE AIRCRAFT WAS SLOWED TO THE PROPER AIRSPEED IAW EMERGENCY PROCEDURE, ATTEMPTED A RESET. SAS RESET WAS SUCCESSFUL, CALLED AIR-COMM AND ADVISED ACFT WILL BE DEVIATING TO ANOTHER AIRPORT. ARRIVED AT AIRPORT WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES AND UPON LANDING, GROUNDED THE AIRCRAFT. COULD NOT DUPLICATE SAS FAILURE AFTER SAS RESET WAS COMPLETED DURING PRIOR FLIGHT. SWAPPED NR 1 AND 2 INVERTERS PRIOR TO OPS CHECK FLIGHT, WITH NO FAULTS DETECTED.

DURING AN IFT AT APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE OUT FROM LANDING A SPARK/FLASH WAS NOTICED FROM THE DASH AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING OUT OF THE TOP OF THE GLARE SHIELD THROUGH SOME VENTS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY AN ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR. A QUICK LOOK AT THE GAUGES, THE PILOT NOTICED A COMM 2 FAILURE AND TURNED IT TO THE OFF POSITION IMMEDIATELY. NO FURTHER SIGN OF FIRE WAS EVIDENT. PILOT USED THE COCKPIT VENTS TO EXHAUST THE CABIN OF THE ODOR AND MADE AN IMMEDIATE DIVERSION FOR AIRPORT A SHORT 3 MINUTE FLIGHT AWAY NOTIFYING THE CREW WE WOULD HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE PATIENT TO GO BY AMBULANCE FROM THE AIRPORT. A NORMAL SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE WAS APPLIED. ALL CREW MEMBERS SAFELY EXITED THE ACFT WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. AFTER DISASSEMBLY OF GLARE SHIELD TO VERIFY THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY BURNED WIRING, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COMM 2 RADIO HAD FAILED.

DURING THE FLIGHT TO THE HOSPITAL, AN ELEC BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICED BY THE MED CREW. THE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WAS NOT WORKING DO TO SOME TYPE OF ELEC FAILURE. TURNED OFF THE POWER TO THE MEDICAL OUTLET & DIVERTED FROM MY COURSE & LANDED SAFELY. ACFT WAS INSPECTED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE EMS OUTLET WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. TROUBLESHOOTING DETERMINED THAT AN A/C D/C ADAPTER HAD FAILED CAUSING THE ODOR IN THE CABIN, THUS CAUSING THE INVERTER PN SS100 TO FAIL.
