LEVELED OFF AND ENROUTE FROM SCENE TO RECEIVING HOSPITAL WITH PATIENT, EXPERIENCED LARGE ENGINE TORQUE SPLIT (40%+). ENGINE TRIM UNRESPONSIVE. RETARDED HIGH SIDE ENGINE TWIST GRIP AND MANUALLY CONTROLLED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLIGHT. NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT WAS APPROX. 3 MILES FROM THE HOSPITAL, AND WAS ABLE TO LAND WITHOUT FURTHER EVENT. ARRANGED TO HAVE GROUND AMBULANCE MEET US AT THE AIRPORT, AND MED CREW COMPLETED THE TRANSPORT VIA GROUND.
PILOT CALLED & STATED STRANGE SMELL IN CABIN & FLIGHT DECK. THIS WAS A STRANGE ODOR TO THE CREW, NOT A BURNING SMELL & NO SMOKE. INSPECTED THE ENGS, TRANSMISSION, BLEED AIR SYS AVIONICS BAY & INTERIOR OF CABIN & FLIGHT DECK. OPERATED ENGS AT FLY FOR SEVERAL TIMES WITH BLEED AIR & HEAT ON AT HIGHEST SETTING. THE SMELL HAD DISSIPATED, ACFT RELEASED FOR SERVICE. POSSIBLE CAUSE COULD BE RESIDUAL COMPRESSOR WASH AFTER TWO DESOLATION RINSE
FOUND A CRACK ON THE AFT BELLY OF AIRCRAFT.
