AIRCRAFT MADE A SCHEDULED DEPARTURE. DURING CLIMB OUT, SMOKE WAS NOTICED IN THE COCKPIT & CABIN BY BOTH THE FLIGHT CREW AND PASSENGERS. AIRCRAFT DECLARED AND EMERGENCY AND DIVERTED. AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. DURING INVESTIGATION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN OIL SEAL IN THE APU HAD FAILED WHICH ALLOWED OIL INTO THE APU INTAKE CAUSING SMOKE IN THE CABIN.
DISCOVERED FAILED ECU ASPIRATOR HIGH PRESSURE TUBE, BROKEN ECU ASPIRATOR TO COASLESCER TUBE & CHAFED RUDDER BIAS BLEED AIR TUBE ON PREFLIGHT. THIS CONDITION APPEARS TO BE DUE TO POOR ROUTING AND ON GOING CHAFING BETWEEN THE ASPIRATOR AND RUDDER BIAS PLUMBING OVER AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME.
FOUND CONTROL LOCK SYSTEM PARTIALLY INOPERATIVE ON POSTFLIGHT INSPECTION, FURTHER INVESTIGATION DETERMINED LEFT AILERON LOCK ARM BROKEN AT LOCK FEATURE CONTACT AREA. CAUSE OF PART FAILURE IS UNKNOWN. PART APPEARS TO HAVE SUFFERED OVERLOADING AT CONTACT POINT, RESULTING IN CRACK, DEVELOPING INTO FAILURE OF THE LOCK ARM. (SEE ATTACHMENT).
