MULTIPLE MAIN TRANSMISSION CHIP LIGHTS, AFTER FOLLOWING CSP 900RMM 2 CHAPTER 63-20-00 & TABLE 601. CHIPS INDICATED ALL UNDER THE LIMITS OF THE CHAPTER BUT COME ON EACH AIRCRAFT RUN UP.
CHIP LIGHT MAIN ROTOR TRANSMISSION.
PART OF THE GASKET OF THE INLET SCREEN CAME LOOSE AND WAS INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE. ONE BLADE ON THE COMPRESSOR HAD DAMAGE THAT CAUSED A LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS OPERATED. THE ONLY DAMAGE THAT CAN BE OBSERVED IS THE COMPRESSOR BLADES. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE POSSIBLY OF OVER TORQUING THE INLET SCREEN MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE GASKET FAILURE ALONG WITH NOT ENOUGH ADHESIVE ON THE GASKET TO ENSURE IT WOULD NOT RELEASE.
DURING 100 HR INSP DAMAGE LOCATED APPROX 1.25 INCHES FROM THE OTBD END OF THE BLADE TIP, ALONG THE AFT EDGE OF THE ABRASION STRIP ON THE LOWER SURFACE, AND MEASURES 1.00 INCH WIDE BY .50 INCHES LONG (FWD/AFT). THE OVERALL SIZE OF THE DAMAGE IS ROUGHLY THE SIZE OF A QUARTER, WITH APPROX (2) COMPOSITE PLIES MISSING. TAP TESTING OF THE AREA HAS DETERMINED THAT AN APPROX .1875 INCH BAND OF DEBOND DAMAGE EXIST AROUND THE DAMAGE AREA, AND THAT THE ABRASION STRIP IS INTACT (NO EVIDENCE OF DEBONDING). REPLACEMENT BLADE ON ORDER.
