INSTALLED NEW FILTER, DRAINED OIL AND SERVICED WITH 11 LITERS NEW TRANZMAX Z OIL. PERFORMED SUCCESSFUL GROUND AN 10 MIN MAINTENANCE CHECK FLIGHT. PERFORMED SELF TEST OF BATT MASTER ELECTRICAL BOX AND BOTH #1 & #2 MASTER ELECTRICAL BOXES. ALL 3 BOXES PASSED SELF TEST WITH RESPECTIVE 3 GREEN LED'S. COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS DISCREPANCY @ THIS TIME. A/C APPROVED FOR R.T.S.

DURING HEAVY MAINTENANCE, FOUND THE TAIL ROTOR FLEXBALL CABLE OUTER SHEATH AT THE AFT END TO BE BROKEN AND SEPARATED FROM THE CRIMPING SLEEVE APPROXIMATELY 1/4". IF LEFT UNDISCOVERED FOR MUCH LONGER THERE WAS A RISK OF MECHANICAL BINDING OR INTRODUCTION OF FOREIGN DEBRIS / WATER WHICH COULD ALSO CAUSE BINDING.

ATA 2150

HAD A BURNING ODOR IN THE COCKPIT AND CABIN WHILE OPERATING BLEED AIR HEAT AND ON APPROACH. LANDED, A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE MAIN TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION DECK AREA REVEALED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING DRIVE BELT WAS BROKEN FROM THE DRIVE PULLEY FOR THE 90 DEGREE GEARBOX WAS MELTED CAUSING THE BURNING ODOR IN THE COCKPIT AND CABIN. ALL PIECES OF THE DRIVE BELT WERE RETRIEVED AND AREA INSPECTED FOR FOD. AREA WAS CLEARED OF ALL DEBRIS. AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS DEACTIVATED. PERFORMED GROUND RUN, NO DEFECTS NOTED. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
