XMSN OIL CHIP (YELLOW CAUTION LIGHT) ILLUMINATED IN FLIGHT. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RFM SUPPLEMENT PAGES, ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE CAUTION LIGHT WITH MOMENTARY ACTIVATION OF THE "CHIP BURNER" SWITCH. CAUTION LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ACCORDANCE WITH RFM EMERGENCY AND MALFUNCTION PROCEDURES PAGE 3-9, REDUCED POWER AND LANDED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO MAKE LEFT AND RIGHT UN-COMMANDED ROLL INPUTS. THE INPUTS INCREASED IN AMPLITUDE AND RATE OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT TWO MINUTES. NO AIRCRAFT CAUTION INDICATIONS CAME ON, ISOLATED THE INPUTS USING SAS SWITCHES, ONCE SAS 2 WAS SWITCHED OFF, THE INPUTS STOPPED.
WHILE PERFORMING AN AIRWORTHINESS CHECK, THE MECHANIC FOUND A 50 MILLIMETER HAIRLINE CRACK IN THE SKIN OF THE LT AFT FUSELAGE, STATION 5460, JUST ABOVE THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE UPPER LT LONGERON OF THE AFT FUSELAGE IS CRACKED AT STATION 5460, WL 1285 & LBL 450, ALL STATIONS REFLECTED IN MILLIMETERS.
