WHILE CONDUCTING STARTUP CHECKS AND UPON ENGINES REACHING IDLE, THE NR 1 GEN DISCON CAUTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. REPLACED STARTER GEN.
CUSTOMER REQUEST TO INSPECT FRAME 5 IAW AIR METHODS ENGINEERING ORDER 23-5300-EO-3820 REV - AND ASB 21-01 REV A. VISUAL AND NDT INSPECTIONS CARRIED OUT. THE FOLLOWING DEFECTS WERE DISCOVERED: -LOWER LH DAMAGE OF SHORT PITCH DISTANCE AND EDGE DISTANCE IN U-PROFILE (FRAME CAP) AND AFT L-ANGLE. LOWER RH DAMAGE OF SHORT PITCH DISTANCE AND EDGE DISTANCE IN U-PROFILE (FRAME CAP) AND AFT L-ANGLE. UPPER LH DAMAGE OF 1" LONG CRACK. UPPER LH, CENTER AND RH DAMAGE OF SHORT PITCH DISTANCE AND EDGE DISTANCE IN U-CHANNEL, FWD L-ANGLE AND AFT FRAME FLANGE.
IN-FLIGHT, NR 1 FADEC FAILURE. SWITCHED NR 1 ENGINE FROM "NORMAL" TO "MANUAL" AND RETURNED SWITCH TO THE "NORMAL" POSITION. USING MANUAL CONTROL OF NR 1 ENGINE VIA TWIST-GRIP, A PRECAUTIONARY UNSCHEDULED LANDING WAS MADE. PILOT REPORTED THE NR 1 ENGINE HAD FAILED DURING LANDING. TROUBLESHOT IAW MM. NR 2 ENGINE HAS BEEN INSPECTED IAW MM WITH NO ANOMALIES OR DISCREPANCIES NOTED. BENCH TEST OF REMOVED DECU HAS CONFIRMED THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE.
