HYDRAULIC LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING LANDING. PROP DE-ICE FAILED IN FLIGHT. - CHECKED FLUID LEVELS AND NITRO PSI. - CLEANED HYD. PSI TRANSMITTER / SWITCH CONNECTIONS. PROP DE-ICE INSPECTED WITH NO PROBLEMS NOTED.
RIGHT AFTER TAKEOFF PILOT ALTIMETER FAILED. ATC CONFIRMD NO ALTITUDE READOUT.WE RETURNED TO RAP UNEVENTFULLY AND WROTE UP THE DISCREPANCY.
AUTO PILOT FAILURE WHILE CLIMBING OUT OF PINE RIDE TRIED TO SET CLIMB AT 130 KTS IT WOULDNâT CAPTURE ALTITUDE ALERTER KEPT RINGING THROUGHOUT FLIGHT WHEN DECENDING INTO RAP SET 1200 FT/MIN AIRCRAFT DIDNâT CAPTURE RATE JUST WENT INTO A MUCH STEEPER RATE. SHUT AUTO PILOT OFF AND HAND FLEW AIRCRAFT TRIED TO USE APPROACH MODE FOR THE ILS BUT AUTO PILOT WOULDNâT FOLLOW GLIDE PATH. AGAIN SHUT OFF AUTO PILOT AND HAND FLEW. NOTICED ALTITUDE INDICATOR STUCK AT 5800 FEET THEN JUMPED TO 5600 FEET AS WELL DURING THIS DECENT. AFTER THAT ONE STICK ALTITUDE INDCATOR SEEMED TO WORK THE REST OF THE WAY.
AFTER ENG STARTUP & DURING TAXI TO RUNWAY, PILOT & MEDICAL CREW SMELLED A BURNING WIRE SMELL. PILOT TURNED AROUND BEFORE TAKEOFF & RETURNED TO HANGAR WITH NO OTHER INCIDENCE. A 15 MINUTE GND RUN UP WAS PERFORMED WITH THE ACFT IN FULL TAKEOFF CONFIGURATION. BOTH GENS & INVERTER BROUGHT ONLINE. ECS, PRESSURIZATION, AIR CONDITIONER, BLOWER FANS, WINDSHIELD HEAT, PROBE HEAT, PROP HEAT, MEDICAL POWER, EXTERIOR & INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON, AS WELL AS THE FLAPS BEING IN THE 15 DEGREE POSITION FOR TAKEOFF. EVERYTHING WAS OPERATING NORMAL & NO DEFECTS OR SMELLS WERE NOTED. AFTER THAT THE ACFT WAS SHUTDOWN & THE PILOT & MECHANIC DECIDED TO TAKE THE ACFT FOR A TEST FLIGHT. THE STARTUP, TAXI, TAKEOFF, FLIGHT & LANDING OF THE ACFT WAS ALL NORMAL WITH NO DEFECTS OR SMELLS NOTED. THE ACFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
ABOUT 25 MILES OUT, ENROUTE, MEDICAL CREW INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD HEARD A LOUD SOUND FOLLOWED BY A "THUD" THAT THEY FELT UNDERNEATH THE LT SIDE OF THE ACFT. DID NOT HEAR OF FEEL OR HEAR WHAT THEY HAD JUST EXPERIENCED, ASKED THEM TO SHOW SPECIFICALLY WHERE THE ABNORMAL NOISE WAS COMING FROM. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS AROUND THE LT MLG. TURNED THE ACFT BACK TOWARDS THE NEAREST AIRPORT, NOTIFIED THE COMMUNICATIONS CTR AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
WHILE INSTALLATION OF THE ELEVATOR FOLLOWING MAINTENANCE A SUSPECTED CRACK WAS FOUND IN THE SHEET METAL SKIN ON THE RH SIDE OF THE VERTICAL STABILIZER. THE CRACK IS LOCATED AT THE RH FORWARD MOUNT HOLE FOR THE 32CT FAIRING. THE CRACK EMANATES FORWARD FROM THE ATTACHMENT HOLE APPROXIMATELY 26.7 MM AND AFT OF THE HOLE APPROXIMATELY 21.6 MM.
