PILOT PLACED GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION, LOUD BANG, ALL 3 GEAR DOWN LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND PILOT LANDED WITHOUT ISSUE. AFTER SHUT DOWN NOTICED LINKAGE HANGING FROM NOSE WHEEL WELL. THE NOSE GEAR TORQUE TUBE ADJUST INBD P/N 0842104-3 HAD FAILED AND THE FORK BOLT P/N 5243518-2 WAS SLIGHTLY BENT.
RIGHT ENGINE STARTED RUNNING A BIT ROUGH. VISUALLY INSPECTED MAGNETOS AND REMOVED RIGHT MAGNETO FOR INSPECTION. DISCOVERED WORN DISTRIBUTOR GEAR. REPLACED MAGNETO WITH OVERHAULED UNIT OF SAME TYPE.
WHEN PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN, HEARD LOUD NOISE IN NOSE, HAD 3 GREEN LIGHTS AND NO HORN, LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. FOUND NOSE GEAR INBOARD BELLCRANK BROKEN AND BOLT BENT. GEAR WAS RIGGED TO SPECS 2 MONTHS PRIOR. SUSPECT GEAR MOTOR BRAKE INOPERABLE AND GEAR WENT PAST UPLIMIT SWITCH AND JAMMED IN UP POSITION. UPLOCK HOOK AND BOLT ALSO BENT.

AFTER STARTING ENGINES TO REPOSITION AIRCRAFT, PILOT PUSHED ON LEFT RUDDER PEDAL AND PEDAL BROKE OFF AT BASE WHERE IT IS WELDED TO PEDAL ARM ASSY. AIRCRAFT TOTAL TIME 5,980 HOURS. PART MAY HAVE BEEN ORIGINAL. ANNUAL INSPECTION, 6 MONTHS PRIOR. HAVE HEARD OF SAME PROBLEM WITH SIMILAR AIRCRAFT. SUBMITTER SUGGESTED MORE FREQUENT AND CLOSER INSPECTIONS.
