ENROUTE FROM LSGG-RJAA WITH 4 CREW ON BOARD AND 0 PAX. FL 430 OVER RUSSIA AT TIME 2000Z WE HAD 2 AMBER CAS MESSAGES, L ELEVATOR FAIL AND FCS MAINTENANCE REQUIRED. WE DECLARED A PAN AND AFTER RUNNING CHECKLIST CONCLUDED TO DIVERT FOR LANDING. OUR ALTERNATE UERR DENIED THE LANDING, WE ASKED FOR UIBB AND WERE ADVISED CLOSED. THE CONTROLLER SUGGESTED UNKL AND WE PROCEEDED RIGHT TURN DIRECT AS INSTRUCTED BY HIM. ENROUTE UNKL DECLARED AN EMERGENCY MAYDAY AND TRANSPONDER 7700. ON DESCENT LEVELED AT FLIGHT LEVEL 090 (9000â) AND RAN THE LANDING CONTROLLABILITY CHECK AS PER THE CHECK LIST. CONTINUED TO LAND SAFELY ILS Z RUNWAY 11. WEATHER AT THE FIELD 2130Z 130/2MPS 9000 NSC -29/-32 1034
APPROX FOUR HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT AT FL430, WE FELT A SUDDEN JOLT IN THE FLIGHT CONTROL, FOLLOWED BY NUMEROUS AMBER AND BLUE CAS MESSAGES AND AUDIBLE ALERTS SOUNDING. THE AUTOPILOT AND AUTO THROTTLES IMMEDIATELY DISENGAGED AND MOST OF THE INSTRUMENTS AND PANELS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COCKPIT BEGAN TO CYCLE ON AND OFF. FLIGHT DISPLAY UNITS 3 AND 4 WOULD IMMEDIATELY BLACK AND CYCLE BACK ON.
"LEFT ENGINE FAIL" CAS MESSAGE FOLLOWED BY AUTO RELIGHT. CREW FOLLOWED QRH PROCEDURES AND AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY. TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED HP#5 VALVE TO BE CONSTRICTED DUE TO COMPRESSION RING OUT OF PLACE. COMPRESSION RING WAS CORRECTLY INSTALLED PER AMM 36-11-05. OPS AND LEAK CHECK GOOD. THE VALVE WAS PREVIOUSLY REMOVED TO AGAIN ACCESS TO THE IGNITOR PLUGS FOR INCORPORATION OF CB 257. WHEN THE VALVE WAS RE-INSTALLED THE SEAL SLIPPED OUT OF PLACE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RAN AND LEAK CHECKED BY MX PERSONNEL WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE DEFECT WAS NOTICED ON THE DECENT PHASE OF A REPOSITION FLIGHT FROM NARITA TO OSAKA. PLEASE NOTE ENGINE MODEL IS BR700-725A1-12. THIS OPTION WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE DROP DOWN MENU. PART NUMBER AND SERIAL NUMBER OF THE HP STAGE 5 AIR NON RETURN VALVE: P/N 3202908-2 S/N 1200
