DURING FLIGHT APPROX 20 MINUTES INTO IT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. PILOT MADE PRECAUTIONARY LANDING IN CLEAR AREA. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WAS STILL SHOWING GOOD PRESSURE, BUT THE LIGHT WAS ILLUMANTED ON MASTER CAUTION PANEL. WHILE PERFORMING REPAIR OF RT FORWARD PILOT OVERHEAD BULKHEAD FRAME IAW SRM 04-01-19, MULTIPLE CRACKS WERE DISCOVERED WHEN SEALANT WAS REMOVED AND OLD FRAME WAS REMOVED. ON FUSELAGE STATION 2049.5, WL 1550, LBL 520 LT AND RT SIDES UPPER BULKHEADS HAVE 1-2 INCH CRACKS IN SKIN ABOVE PILOT AND COPILOT UPPER BULKHEADS . ON FUSELAGE RT SKIN UNDER GREENHOUSE ATTACHMENT COMPOSITE ATTACHMENT STRIP AFT BS 2049.5, WL 1400, BL 520 AT CORNER RIVET ATTACHMENT HOLE HAS A 1-2 INCH CRACK MIGRATING FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVET ATTACHMENT HOLE.

ATA 2497

DURING CRUISE, SMELLED A STONG ACRID ODOR WHICH APPEARED TO BE THAT OF AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. MONITORED THE GAUGES AND SAW NO INDICATION OF ANY MALFUNCTION. CHECKED THE COCKPIT FOR ANY SMOKE AND NONE NOTED. CONTINUE TO THE CLOSEST AIRPORT, ON LANDING AND SHUTDOWN, DID NOT FIND ANY INDICATIONS OF AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE ODOR DISSAPAED AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE OVERHEAD CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL WAS LNSPECTED. NOTED THAT TWO WIRES ON THE COPILOTS HEADSET CONNECTOR WERE BROKEN. WIRES WERE SOLDIERED ONTO CONNECTOR AND NO FURTHER DEFECTS WERE NOTED. MECHANIC CONTINUED TO REMOVE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FROM CENTER PEDISTAL FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. NO FURTHER DEFECTS WERE NOTED AND AFTER 3 GROUND RUNS, NO DETECTION OF ANY ABNORMAL ODORS NOTED. AIRCRAFT WAS RTS AND FLEW BACK WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.

WHILE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNING TO BASE, SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE UPPER CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL CLOSE TO THE GOVERNOR CONTROL BREAKER. AFTER FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A WIRE FOR THE GOV CONTROL BREAKER HAD CHAFED NEXT TO A STANDOFF AND METAL SUPPORT. THE GROUNDED WIRE CAUSED THE BREAKER AND WIRE TO SMOKE AND NOT TRIP. SINCE THE BREAKER HAS SIGNS OF OVERHEATING, BURNING SMELL, THE WIRE AND BREAKER WERE BOTH REPLACED AS REQUIRED.

THIS DISCREPANCY WAS TROUBLESHOT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THE INITIAL DISCREPANCY WAS NR DROP TO 96 PERCENT WITH A COLLECTIVE CHANGE THAN IT WENT TO 94 PERCENT WITH AN COLLECTIVE CHANGE AND FINALLY TO 94 PERCENT WITH NOT COLLECTIVE INPUT AT ALL. BOTH THE MECHANIC AND THE SUPERVISOR VERIFIED THAT THE RVDT, MECHANICAL GOVERNOR AND THE PC LINKS WERE RIGGED PROPERLY. THE LINES RUNNING TO THE FCU WERE LEAK CHECKED AND CHECKED FOR CONTAMINATION AT THE REQUEST OF THE PRATT AND WHITNEY HELP DESK, THE ELECTRONIC GOVERNOR WAS ALSO CHANGED AT THE REQUEST OF THE PRATT AND WHITNEY HELP DESK WITH NO CHANGE IN DISCREPANCY. THE FCU WAS THEN CHANGED WHICH CORRECTED THE NR DROOP.
