SBP - FLT 3042 - AFTER TAKEOFF, WHEN GEAR WAS SELECTED UP CREW REPORTED A VIBRATION IN THE AIRCRAFT. A MODERATELY LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD AFTER GEAR RETRACTED. DURING LANDING CREW EXPERIENCED NOSEWHEEL SHIMMY DURING ROLLOUT. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE BOLT THAT HOLDS A CAM IN PLACE THROUGH CENTER LINK SHEARED OFF. DRAG BRACE AND LINK WERE ALSO FOUND TO HAVE DAMAGE. DRAGE BRACE ASSEMBLY AND LINK WERE REMOVED AND REPLACED AND NEW BOLT INSTALLED. OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS SATISFACTORY AND AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
BFL - FLT 3130 - FOUR ADJACENT FLOOR EMERGENCY LIGHT FAILED TO TEST. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED BATTERY PACKS AT 20LN, 21LN, 22LN, AND 23LN, (S/N 18435, 18173, 17498, 19527). OPS CHECK WAS GOOD AND AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
SAN - FLT 9731 - CREW REPORTED SEVERAL CABIN EMERGENCY LIGHTS ARE INOPERATIVE. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED TWO EMERGENCY LIGHT POWER SUPPLY UNITS (S/N 17164 AND 19879) IAW SAAB MM. OPS HECK WAS GOOD AND AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
FAT- FLT 3105 - CREW REPORTED A STRONG BURNED PLASTIC SMELL DURING DESCENT INTO FAT. MAINTENANCE FOUND HOT JUG RECEPTICLE BURNED. HOT JUGS PUT ON MEL AT THIS TIME. MAINTENANCE REPLACED AIRFRAME CONNECTOR FOR THE HOT JUGS. AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
DURING TEST OF EMERGENCY LIGHT SYSTEM CREW REPORTED THREE FLOOR PROXIMITY LIGHTS AND FOUR OVERHEAD LIGHTS TO BE INOPERATIVE. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED EMERGENCY LIGHT POWER SUPPLY UNIT BATTERY AT POSITION 20LN. OPS CHECK WAS GOOD AND AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)

LAX - FLT 3201 - BEFORE TAKEOFF, FLIGHT ATTENDANT REPORTED A SMELL IN CABIN. PERFORMED OPERATIONAL TEST OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM IAW SAAB MM 71-00-00. COULD NOT DUPLICATE SMELL. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
LAX - FLT 3059 - AVIONIC SMOKE LIGHT ON IN-FLIGHT. PUT ON MEL. C/A - 6-5-00 REMOVED AND REPLACED AVIONICS RACK SMOKE DETECTOR IAW SAAB AMM 26-13-05. OPS CHECK GOOD. (X)
LAX - FLT 3256 - UPON LANDING, THE LEFT MLG BRAKE LINE BROKE AND THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALL HYDRAULIC FLUID AND BRAKE PRESSURE. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE LEFT LOWER BRAKE LINE. RESERVICED HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHECKS, AND RETURNED AIRCRAFT TO SERVICE. (X)
DURING PREFLIGHT, THE EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHT AT ROW 11A WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. REPLACED BULB.
ENG WAS INSTALLED AND MX WAS PERFORMING ENG BREAK IN RUNS IAW SAAB AMM 71-00-00 PAGES 516-518. THE POWER LEVER WAS ADVANCED FROM 46 PERCENT TO 68 PERCENT TQ WHEN TEMP STARTED TO INCREASE FASTER THAN NORMAL. WHEN THE POWER LEVER WAS RETARDED, TWO AUDIABLE POPS WERE HEARD WITH CORRESPONDING OVER TEMP LIGHTS. A BOROSCOPE INSPECTION REVEALED EXCESSIVE RUB AT STAGE 4-5 OF THE COMPRESSOR ROTOR. THE COMPRESSOR IMPELLOR HAD ALSO CUT INTO IT'S SHROUD. THE COMPRESSOR WAS RUBBING WHEN THE ENG WAS TURNED BY HAND BUT THE COMPRESSOR SECTION WAS NOT TURNING WITH THE HOT SECTION. FOUND THAT THE COMPRESSOR ROTOR REAR SHAFT HAD FAILED. THE ENG WAS SENT TO GE FOR EVALUATION.
DURING TAXI, CREW OBSERVED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE CENTER PEDISTAL IN THE AREA OF THE GUST LOCK. REPLACED THE QUADRANT ASSEMBLY.
ON TAXI, THE LEFT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PRESSURE WAS BELOW THE YELLOW ARC ON THE GUAGE. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE LEFT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND PERFORMED GROUND RUNS.
LANDING GEAR HANDLE WOULD NOT RETRACT UNTIL THE DOWNLOCK RELEASE WAS DEPRESSED. MAINTENANCE FOUND WIRE NR GA-91 ATTACHED TO SPLICE NR 305VSDD INSTEAD OF NR 305VSDB. RECONFIGURED WIRING IAW SAAB SB340-76-031 PAGE 18, PERFORMED LANDING GEAR SWINGS.
CREW REPORTED, HAD TO USE THE DOWNLOCK RELEASE TO RETRACT THE LANDING GEAR. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE SCRAPER RING INSIDE THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUT INCORRECTLY INSTALLED. REPLACED ALL STRUT SEALS AND PERFORMED GEAR SWINGS IAW SAAB AMM 32-11-25.
DURING AIRCRAFT TEST FLIGHT THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE FIRST OFFICER PRESSED THE DOWNLOCK RELEASE AND THE GEAR OPERATED NORMALLY. MAINTENANCE IN ABI PERFORMED LANDING GEAR EXTENSION AND RETRACTION CHECKS, COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM.
