TELEX 1-167172191 GOES FURTHER TO EXPLAIN THAT THE CRACKING IS UNRELATED TO THE TRACK ATTACH FITTINGS THAT ARE THE SUBJECT OF BOEING SB 767-57-0069. BOEING SERVICE BULLETIN 767-27-0184 STATES THAT FRACTURE OF THE DEFLECTION CONTROL TRACK DOES NOT AFFECT THE SAFETY OF FLIGHT.

RIGHT INBOARD FLAP-CENTER EXTERNAL HINGE FITTING IS CRACKED ON INBOARD AND OUTBOARD FLANGES AT THE TOP. REPAIRED HINGE WITH REPAIR ANGLES AND FILLERS.
RETURN TO FIELD DUE TO L-GENERATOR INOP. TEARDOWN REVEALED THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL AND CLUSTER GEARS WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. IT APPEARS THAT SOME KIND OF CONTAMINATION WAS INTRODUCED WHICH EITHER INTERRUPTED/DILUTED THE OIL SUPPLY TO ONE OF THE CLUSTER GEARS, OR DAMAGED THE PLATING ON THE SHAFT RESULTING IN LARGE AMOUNTS OF METAL INTRODUCED IN-BETWEEN BEARING SURFACES. THE CONTAMINATION COULD HAVE BEEN FUEL (OR SOME OTHER CONTAMINATE WHICH LOWERED THE VISCOSITY OF THE OIL), OR SOME OTHER FOREIGN PARTICLE(S) INTRODUCED EARLY IN THE UNITS LIFE. NO FUEL SMELL WAS NOTED BY TECHNICIAN DURING TEARDOWN. THE UNIT IS UNDERGOING A COMPLETE OVERHAUL.

AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN AT THE GATE OIL QTY READS 9 QTS. *S/D* THE SUBJECT ENGINE WAS REMOVED FROM AIRCRAFT 6644-2 ON OCTOBER 1,2000 IN ORD FOR OIL IN THE TAILPIPE AND ABOVE NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. A FULL ENGINE BORESCOPE WAS PERFORMED WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION FOR OIL WETTING IN THE HPC AND HPT. REVEALED NO UNSERVICEABLE CONDITIONS AND NO OIL WETTING. OIL FILTER AND CHIP DETECTORS WERE CLEAN.THE NUMBER 3 BEARING DRAIN LINE WAS FOUND CLEAN AND DRY. OIL SYSTEM PRESSURE CHECKS WERE ACCOMPLISHED

EXTENDED FLAPS USING ALTERNATE SYSTEM. LANDED FLAPS 20 DEG AT 330,000 POUNDS. *S/D* FAULTY LOGIC FROM THE PSEU CAUSED FALSE WARNING INDICATIONS DURING TAKEOFF INCLUDING FLAP CONFIGURATION, SLAT ASYMMETRY AND STALL WARNING. WHEN THE SLAT ASYMMETRY INDICATION WAS SENSED BY THE FLAP/SLAT ELEC UNIT FSEU. SLATS WERE POSITIONED ELECTRICALLY. REPLACED M14 PROX CARD AND M10 DRIVER CARD ASSEMBLIES IN PSEU AND THE S300 SLAP POSITION SENOR SWITCH PER MM.

RETURNED TO FIELD, OVERWEIGHT LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT. *S/D* THIS ENGINE EXPERIENCED A GROUP 3 SURGE EVENT. GROUP 3 SURGES ARE THE RESULT OF EXCESSIVE BLADE TIP CLEARANCE IN THE REAR STAGES OF THE HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR. THIS ENGINE WAS REMOVED FOR HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR REFURBISHMENT.
THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED, DUE TO A FLIGHT MANAGEMENT COMPUTER NAVIGATION DISCREPANCY. *S/D* FLIGHT RECORDER DATA INDICATED THAT THE FMC POSITION WAS APPROXIMATELY 34 NM NORTHEAST OF THE ACTUAL POSITION AFTER PUSHBACK. THE IRU WAS MISALIGNED, OPERATIONS CHECKED NORMAL AFTER REALIGNMENT.
ABORTED TAKEOFF DUE TO RIGHT ENGINE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE EICAS MESSAGE WITH BLEED CAUTION LIGHT. ACCOMPLISHED CHECK OF ALL VALVES ON THE RIGHT ENGINE. ALL WIRES WERE ALSO INSPECTED AND FOUND SECURE. OPERATIONS CHECK NORMAL. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER DISCREPANCIES INDICATED. NO PARTS WERE REMOVED.
