NTSB accidents & incidents
31 records, spanning 1984–2025.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The pilot undergoing instructions’ loss of aircraft control during landing, and the flight instructor’s failure to promptly intervene.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The flight instructor’s failure to maintain clearance from a fence during taxi. Contributing to the accident was the low light conditions and obstacles adjacent to the deice bay.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The student pilot’s failure to maintain directional control while landing in a crosswind.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The flight instructor’s delayed remedial action, which resulted in a hard landing.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The pilot's unstable approach, which resulted in a hard landing and impact with a runway threshold light. Also causal was the flight instructor’s failure to take remedial action to prevent the hard landing.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Inc (per NTSB report)
The pilot receiving instruction’s failure to maintain airplane control during a simulated engine failure landing and subsequent attempted go-around in gusting crosswind conditions and the flight instructor's delayed remedial action.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Inc (per NTSB report)
The other pilot's failure to see and avoid the airplane established on the taxiway.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
Extensive fatigue cracking in the left-wing main spar lower cap and doublers, which resulted in the in-flight separation of the left wing. The fatigue cracks initiated and grew to a critical size due to flight and ground loads associated with flight-training involving flight-training maneuvers, significant operation at low altitudes and frequent landing cycles. Previously established inspection criteria were insufficient to detect the fatigue crack before it grew to a critical size.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The pilot receiving instruction’s failure to see and avoid an airplane holding short of the runway on the taxiway and the flight instructor’s lack of situational awareness.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The pilot’s improper landing flare, which resulted in a hard, bounced landing.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INC (per NTSB report)
The pilot-rated student's hard landing, which resulted in fuselage damage.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The student pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during the landing, and the flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the student pilot resulting in abnormal runway contact and damage to the airplane.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The pilot’s improper flare, which resulted in a hard landing.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
An inadvertent encounter with a bird during cruise flight.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The departing pilot's incorrect runway selection and non-compliance with an air traffic control clearance. Contributing to the incident was the air traffic controller's inadequate monitoring of the departing aircraft to ensure that the pilot complied with the clearance issued and his failure to issue conflict resolution advisories.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The student pilot's inadequate compensation for the gusty wind conditions and failure to maintain directional control during landing.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY (per NTSB report)
The pilot's inadequate in-flight planning/decision, excessive airspeed on final approach, and failure to execute a go-around resulting in a misjudged flare and hard landing.
Operated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The pilot's improper flare at night, which resulted in a hard landing. A factor in the accident was the pilot's lack of recent night experience.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The pilot's misjudged flare, which resulted in a hard landing and a porpoise.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The failure of the student pilot to initiate a recovery from the bounced landing resulting in a hard landing.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
Failure of the nose landing gear upper drag brace assembly due to overload acting on an undetected forging defect formed during the initial forging of the brace. A contributing factor in this accident was the runway distance remaining sign.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY (per NTSB report)
The pilots inadequate landing flare/touchdown which resulted in a hard landing.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The pilot's selection of an en route altitude that did not provide adequate terrain clearance, and resulted in the in-flight collision with terrain. The rising terrain and the blind/box canyon were contributing factors.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY (per NTSB report)
The student pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind conditions and failure to maintain directional control. Also causal was the flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the flight in allowing the student to perform a solo flight with a strong, gusting crosswind near the factory demonstrated crosswind component limit. Factors to the accident were the gusty crosswind conditions, and a lack of flight school standards pertaining to student pilot supervised solo flights in challenging weather conditions.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
The student pilots improper flare, and improper recovery from a bounced landing. A factor was the student pilot's lack of total experience.
Operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (per NTSB report)
the flight instructor's inadequate supervision and the dual student's improper use of brakes which resulted in the loss of directional control and collision with a wind sock. Contributing to the accident was the flight instructor's failure to follow procedures/directives.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERO. UNIV. (per NTSB report)
THE DELAYED REMEDIAL ACTION BY THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND (CFI) TO THE STUDENT'S PUSHING THE CONTROL YOKE FORWARD ON SHORT FINAL APPROACH.
Operated by EMBRY-RIDDLE AERO. UNIV., INC. (per NTSB report)
FAILURE OF THE CFI TO MAINTAIN CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE RIGHT WING TIP AND A TELEPHONE POLE.
Operated by EMBRY RIDDLE AERO. UNIV. (per NTSB report)
THE PILOT MISJUDGED CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE WINGTIP AND THE BLAST DEFLECTOR SHIELD. THE PROXIMITY OF THE SHIELD WAS A RELATED FACTOR.
