INTERMITTENT METALLIC ACIDIC SMELL IN THE COCKPIT DURING CLIMB OUT AND AGAIN DURNING DESCENT. NOT NOTICED IN THE CABIN. SEEMED TO BE LOCALIZED TO THE COCKPIT. UPON ARRIVAL TO AIRCRAFT NO SMELL WAS NOTED, SPOKE WITH CREW AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A SMELL SIMILAR TO NAIL POLISH REMOVER. RAN BOTH ENGINES AND BOTH PACKS ON WITH CREW WITH APU BLEED OFF AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SMELL, NO SIMILAR HISTORY NOTED A/C OKAY FOR CONTINUED SERVICE.
